After spending 20 years teaching English to middle and high school students, I never thought that I would go into a completely different field. However, after my husband Steve and I made the decision to move from one state to another, I decided this would be the perfect time to make a complete career change if I was ever going to do it. I tend to be a very loyal person to my employers, so if I had come and gotten settled in a new school, it would have been even harder to make the switch later on. We are also empty-nesters now, so I don't have to deal with "mommy guilt" as I spend a lot of time working in my new career.
I taught my last class in May of 2014, and by the beginning of June, I was sitting in real estate school and beginning a new adventure. It has been a crazy roller-coaster since then, but I don't regret any of it. My new career as a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty in Little Rock, AR, is at once terrifying, thrilling, fun, flexible, and the list goes on. I love the people I work with, and I'm enjoying pouring myself into learning a whole new field. I'm doing quite well and have some huge goals for 2015. Stay tuned as I blog about life in my new profession.
